Start with how the keyboard connects
Not all iPad keyboards are created equal, and the connection type decides how the case behaves every single day. Cases that use Apple's Smart Connector draw power and data through magnetic pins — the keyboard is ready the moment it snaps on, with nothing to pair and nothing to charge separately. Bluetooth keyboards can work well, but they need pairing, occasional recharging and can lag exactly when you need them.
For most people in Europe who use an iPad as a daily work tool, the Smart Connector approach is simply the more reliable choice.
Typing feel matters more than spec sheets
Look for scissor-switch keys with around 1 mm of travel. That combination gives the quiet, tactile response of a laptop keyboard rather than the mushy feel of budget alternatives. If you write emails, essays or reports, this is the single biggest factor in how much you enjoy the case.
Good keyboards are also backlit. A 7-colour adjustable backlight with several brightness levels makes evening trains and late-night flights far more comfortable — without disturbing anyone around you.
A trackpad changes how you work
Multi-touch trackpads bring the gestures you already know from a laptop: two-finger scroll, swipe between apps, pinch to zoom. If you edit documents or move between several apps, a trackpad is the difference between "a tablet with a keyboard" and "a laptop".
Rotation is the feature you didn't know you needed
A 360° rotating hinge lets you switch between landscape for typing and portrait for reading, sketching or video calls in one motion. Fixed-angle keyboards lock you into one posture; a rotating case follows the way you actually work.
Transparent design — and the question of yellowing
Transparent cases show off the colour of your iPad instead of hiding it behind black plastic. The material question is whether the case is made from anti-yellowing polycarbonate with a UV-resistant coating. High-quality clear cases are engineered to stay clear for years, and reputable brands back that with a warranty.
Fit, protection and the details
Check that the case lists your exact iPad model — including the year and screen size. Precision cutouts keep every port, speaker and camera accessible, and the case should protect the edges and the back without turning a slim iPad into a tank.

Before you order
Choose a seller that ships tracked and states delivery times openly. A 30-day return window and a 12-month warranty are the minimum signals of a serious product. Delivery across Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria is typically faster than to the Nordics or southern Europe — a good shop will say so at checkout.
